The name of the game right now is to be out, traipsing around in a post-project, gotta refill the well, you should be out having fun, gotta encounter the people and the world you live in type way, but I am mostly in the awkward stage of that. I am fully embodying the in between right now: sleeping at odd hours, eating odd things at odd hours, going out solo only to have large self-realizations and then just feeling weird. Seeing some pretty good art. Seeing some terrible art. Talking to a lot of strangers in the way that happens when it’s hot out in New York so the filter is gone between people. Having so many ideas pour in that it’s feeling a little overwhelming. Making a lot of lists. Applying to jobs. Applying to residencies. Starting jobs. We all seem to be more than ready to have some joy a la the mass NY Knicks psychosis experience. I’ve been reflecting a lot on permission and all the crevices it hides inside of. I have a lot of permission and I really love that. When I went to the New Museum show, there was this group of older women, and I ran into them hanging out in the room with the Pierre Huyghe video trading photos of their grandkids and shit talking their dating lives. They were just glad to find a bench. I
